Slice

Today was back to normal hours due to the tournaments being finished. Back at 9am Maddie cam in and we practiced keeping the ball deep and consistency. After doing this for an hour we looked at Maddie's slice as this was something she was weak on during the tournament at the weekend. As you can see from the video it was mainly the technical aspects that were focused on. Afterwards , we moved outside and worked on points and way to win the points. Something which I have learnt whilst being here is that American's tend not to slice as much as they don't play on clay courts. Therefore, this is something which has be taught effectively.

Once we finished academy started again at 2. I started off again with focusing on serve, the aim was to try and break your opponents serve and the server's aim was to hold serve and gain more points. As more people arrived, I then moved onto playing sets and points against one another. These were however conditioned so you only had 1 serve. This put pressure on the player to get their first serves in. As academy was coming to an end we played doubles which was encouraging players to move into the net and volley, something which isn't practiced enough.
