Sore and tired

Day 2 of the tournament. An early start as usual, wake up at 6:00 leave at 6:15 and be there to warm up for 7:15. These are certain things you need to remember when you are planning for a tournament. The player needs to warm up beforehand to get loose and warm themselves up. Also being tight and sore from the long matches the day before a warm up is essential to prevent injury. Warming up with another girl Maddie (also plays at Lakeland) to get their eye on the ball but making sure they aren't doing too much to make them tired. 8:30 am start for the first match. Again I match charted the match so I had all the statistics to give to her. This is an aspect where you have to give a certain amount of time before giving statistics to the player. After a match you are normally mentally tired and the last thing you want to hear is what you did wrong. Therefore, waiting a good amount of time before telling her what she needs to remember is crucial. This was a close match, and gladly she won in a very tight match. But I learnt a lot about how she plays differently under certain situations and what needs to be worked on when we are back at training. After a 1 hour break on for another match, so ensuring she is getting enough liquid and food in her body especially playing in such heat is important. It was windy, therefore she had to play differently and use her brain more. This I realized the benefit of practicing outside so much as it gets you used to different weather conditions. After this I went to visit some other players, boys, who also play at the academy to get a feel of how they also play in matches but to also show my support. I believe its important to show loyalty to your players and also their parents especially if their players are young. Below you can see a photo of Daniel who is 11 and was playing in the same tournament. Tomorrow Jaedan has the semi final of the singles and hopefully the final. I hope my motivational speech will keep her going.
