Court Etiqutte

Today we had a meeting with all the coaches regarding court etiquette and how our etiquette on court reflects on to the players.

The main focus points were:

- no mobile phones on court

- No lingering in between courts, stay focused on your own court

- be careful with the type of language

- No religion or politics talk

- Keep your players moving all the time

- no bad mouthing about any other clubs

These points may seem obvious but how we act on court is also noticed by parents who are our customers. As in any business we need to act professional at all times as if you were in an office, the only difference if that our office is a tennis court. We have a certain image which we like to present as a club is that we don't offer adults tennis programs which is unique as all there other clubs nearby to. we mainly focus on junior development. We also offer 4 hours of academy other clubs offer 2 hours maximum. We also have a cheaper price scale. This makes us different to other clubs. Not better but different. After the coaches meeting, we went on court and ensured that we implemented everything we had just spoken about.

Throughout the 4 hours of academy coaching we focused on keeping your mental stability. Throughout the players matches the lost their cool regularly and let the emotions get the better of them. This meant putting players against other players who may frustrate each other or give them a task they find difficult. The aim of this was to give them experience in overcoming challenges on court and finding ways to overcome them. As I am coming towards the end of my mentorship I have learning more and more about the every day running of a sports business such as how you preset yourself to your customers even when you are on court.
