Day 2: today i started at 9am hitting with Jaeden ensuring that she is working hard and practising her shots. After hitting with her until 11:30. My legs were dead and it was time for a break. 3:30 work started again and a flood of kids came who we had to organize. I started off by telling them anyone who lets the ball double bounce has to do 5 pushups. This got them moving their feet! I quickly got put on court with the older kids, who are pretty good at tennis, I spent 2 hours with them feeding them balls, shouting at them to move their feet and correcting them on technique. Finishing at 8, I spoke to my mentor about what type of people they like to employ, what type of club they aim to be, and how they deal with certain situations etc. This i found very interesting , as in the world of tennis you have parents who can be very full on, so I got told its never best to get involved and just do your job and help when needed. I also learned that you have to stay aware 24/7 during the sessions we have around 30 kids playing on courts, you need to have eyes in the back of your head. After working with Jaedan this morning, I have now become her motivator to ensure that she is putting the work in correctly, this means running with her, playing tennis with her and going to yoga with her. All these aspects are something which I will need to take into consideration when I want to run my own tennis management business as this will need to be schedules in for the players and also what type of exercise they should be doing. Below of some clips of hitting outside for the first time on clay this season!
